  • How long will it take you to make me a knife?
    —It depends on what you want for blade and handle length, style, handle materials and blade finish. If you want something with a lot of added detail, it will take more time and material to make it.

  • What kinds of steel do you use to make the blade?
    —I make the blades out of high quality cutlery and tool steels. Click here to see a brief description of some of the steels I use.

  • What kind of handle materials can I have on my custom knife?
    —There are many choices for handle materials; natural woods and burls, synthetic materials for toughness and water resistance, different kinds of horn, plastics and laminated woods.

  • What is "filework" and what is it for?
    —Filework is a decorative design, usually (but not always) placed on the back of the blade to enhance the overall look of your knife. Here are some examples.

  • How do you make my one-of-a-kind knife?
    —I'm often asked this question and to answer it I have gathered some pictures to give people a rough idea of the process I use to make knives.
